Marketing Education Association Annual Conference Business Meeting
January 20, 2008
Call to Order: President Cecil Lara called the meeting to
order at the Breakfast Meeting of the Marketing Education Association’s Annual
Conference in Point Clear,
Presentations: Cecil Lara presented gifts to Assistant
Conference Chair Jane Blackburn, Conference Chair Debbie Ebner, Board Member John
Burkes for the completion of his term on the Board, and Ken Mattern as the
winner of the ICDC drawing of $600 donated by Lloyd Ott’s Network Solutions.
Financial Report: Norma Joiner presented the financials for
MEA. Debbie Popo moved and Pam Naylor
seconded to accept the financial reports.
Motion carried.
MEA Elections: Pam Naylor moved and Lloyd Ott seconded to
hold the MEA elections in March after the ACTE elections. Motion carried. Deb Moore moved and Pam Naylor seconded to
change term limits to three terms in succession instead of two terms. Motion carried.
Next Year’s Conference:
It was announced that next
year’s MEA conference will be in
Foundation Board: The MEA Foundation Board approved $2,600 for
MEA Outreach.
Thank You: The Eighth Annual Marketing Education Conference was very successful. A huge thank you to this year's Conference Chair, Debbie Ebner. Pam Naylor publicly thanked Rod Davis, Ed Bufford, and Norma Joiner for keeping MEA the only stand-alone marketing organization solvent. These thanks brought a round of applause.
