PURPOSE: To recognize marketing educators for outstanding innovative contributions to a marketing education instructional program.
CRITERIA: The award will be presented to individuals for innovation in marketing education programming in the preceding two years. The individual must have played a significant role in the creation and implementation of the innovation. The nominee will be rated on his/her personal involvement in the creation and implementation of the innovation; the uniqueness of ideas and the objectives of the program; the accomplishment of the program objectives; the implications for future outcomes; and the ease of implementation in other marketing education programs.
ELIGIBILITY: This award is given to individuals currently employed in Marketing Education. The award can also be given to small groups of marketing educators who were jointly responsible for an innovation.
APPLICATION PROCEDURES: A Nomination Dossier developed as follows:
- The Innovation in Marketing Education Evaluation Form (click for downloadable form in Word) becomes page 1 of the Nomination Dossier.
- The Innovation in Marketing Education Nomination Form (click for downloadable form in Word) becomes page 2 of the Nomination Dossier.
- Support information becomes pages 3-6. This should include no more than one page each in four sections as follows:
- Section A (page 3): Personal involvement in the creation and implementation of the activity
- Section B (page 4): Activity's uniqueness in Marketing Education
- Section C (page 5): Activity objectives and the accomplishment of the objectives, as well as the impact on the marketing education program
- Section D (page 6): Future outcomes of the activity and the ease of implementation in other marketing education programs
- A maximum of five letters of support should be pages 7-11 of the Nomination Dossier. Suggested endorsers include: business and industry leaders, professional association leaders, educational leaders, civic leaders, and students. Endorsers should be familiar with the innovation and address their perceptions in the letters of support.
- The last page of the Nomination Dossier should be a Public Relations and Recognition Information Form (click for downloadable form in Word).
APPLICATION GUIDELINES: All materials should be typed. Ten copies of the completed materials on three-hole-drilled paper should be submitted. Materials should not be submitted in bound notebooks and all materials must be submitted simultaneously as a completed package. Materials in other formats will not be considered. A $20 application fee is due at the same time nomination materials are submitted. Checks or money orders should be made payable to the Marketing Education Association. Materials submitted without the application fee will not be considered. Nomination materials should be sent to:

DEADLINE: All Marketing Education Award of Merit Nomination Dossiers must be received in the MEA office by June 1. Award recipients may choose to have the award presented during the MEA Conference or during the ACTE Convention in December.
