Marketing Education Award of Merit

 

PURPOSE: To recognize individuals or organizations outside the field of Marketing Education for the highest meritorious service toward the improvement, promotion, development, and progress of Marketing Education

CRITERIA: Organizations considered for the Marketing Education Award of Merit must have demonstrated a concern for Marketing Education through sponsored programs, publications, financial support, and/or other activities. Only under unusual circumstances will more than one Marketing Education Award of Merit be presented each year.

ELIGIBILITY: Individuals, business firms, industries, boards of education, boards of trustees, lay citizen groups, state or national committees, and other types of organizations that have contributed significantly to Marketing Education are eligible to receive this award.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES: A Nomination Dossier must be developed for each nominee as follows:

  1. Page 1 - Marketing Education Award of Merit Evaluation Form (click for downloadable form in Word)
  2. Page 2 - Marketing Education Award of Merit Nomination Form (click for downloadable form in Word)
  1. Each nominee must be endorsed or sponsored by a state Marketing Education association, state education agency, MEA professional Interest Category, or other groups of not fewer than 10 MEA and/or ACTE Marketing Education Division members.

  2. Page 3 - Sponsored Programs
    Page 4 - Publications
    Page 5 - Financial Support
    Page 6 - Advisory Board Activities
    Page 7 - Other Activities
  3. A concise paper highlighting the contributions and achievements of the individual or group becomes pages 3-7. Each of the five sections should be no longer tan one page.

  4. Page 8-17 - A maximum of 10 letters of support should be pages 8-17 of the Nomination Dossier. Suggested endorsers include: political leaders, professional association leaders, business and industry leaders, educational leaders, civic leaders, parents, and students.
  5. Page 18 (or last page) - Public Relations and Recognition Information Form (click for downloadable form in Word)

APPLICATION GUIDELINES: All materials should be typed. Ten copies of the completed materials on three-hole-drilled paper should be submitted. Materials should not be submitted in bound notebooks and all materials must be submitted simultaneously as a completed package. Materials in other formats will not be considered. A $20 application fee is due at the same time nomination materials are submitted. Checks or money orders should be made payable to the Marketing Education Association. Materials submitted without the application fee will not be considered. Nomination materials should be sent to:

DEADLINE: All Marketing Education Award of Merit Nomination Dossiers must be received in the MEA office by June 1. Award recipients may choose to have the award presented during the MEA Conference or during the ACTE Convention in December.
