Marketing Education Professional Award
 

PURPOSE: To honor an individual for exemplary service to Marketing Education.

ELIGIBILITY: Any present or past marketing educator whom members of the marketing education community choose to honor.

CRITERIA: Each award is made possible by contributions totaling not less than $1,200 to the Marketing Education Foundation from the nominee's marketing education colleagues, business associates, and friends from industry.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES:

  1. Notify the MEA office of intent to solicit contributions for a Marketing Education Professional Award, clearly identifying the intended recipient. (NOTE: Once fundraising is initiated, contributions may not be transferred to other recipients. Therefore, if the minimum amount is not raised during the planned solicitation period, all funds accrue to the Foundation and continuing solicitations occur until the minimum is attained.)
  2. If desired, request mailing labels from MEA for use in contacting appropriate individuals to contribute to the Marketing Education Professional Award fund (state leaders, teacher educators, state supervisors, state association officers, PIC members, etc.)
  3. Solicit contributions from marketing education and industry personnel. The minimum contribution for acknowledgement as a donor is $10. Checks should be made payable to the Marketing Education Foundation. The honoree's name should be included on the check. (All contributions are tax deductible.) Checks should be mailed to

  4. The MEA office will acknowledge all donors with a letter of thanks.
  5. The MEA office will regularly notify the nominating individual on the progress of the fund and when contributions total $1,200.
  6. In preparation for the award, the nominating individual should submit a 450-word citation summarizing the services of the honoree to the MEA office. The citation will be read when the award is presented. A plaque will be presented at the recognition ceremony. A Public Relations and Recognition Information Form should be submitted with the citation.
DEADLINE: If the award is to be presented at the ACTE Convention, all contributions should be in the MEA office by November 1. Typed citations are due in the MEA office by November 15.
