Professional Development Committee |

Committee Responsibilities: The Professional Development Committee shall be responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising the professional development program of MEA including conferences, seminars, and courses (including distance learning). |

- Establish Professional Development for Marketing Educators as a primary responsibility of MEA.
- Identify specific conference sites, dates, themes, and chairs at least two years in advance and present them to the Board of Directors for approval. Assist conference chairs to plan, market, and operate conferences and seminars in cooperation with the MEA Board and the National Office staff.

Design alternative delivery strategies emphasizing technology to increase the availability of professional development for Marketing Educators.
- Work with teacher educators and others to increase access to credit and non-credit offerings for Marketing Educators to meet initial and continuing certification requirements.
- Work with other associations, federal and state agencies, and others to promote the value, growth, and effectiveness of professional development for Marketing Education professionals.
- Submit a written report of committee activities for each meeting of the MEA Board of Directors.

Committee Guidelines: Each committee shall consist of the individual serving as Board Liaison, the committee Chair, and committee members. The Board Liaison may be appointed as Chair. The Chair and members of each committee are appointed by the MEA President with the approval of the Board of Directors. Chairs are appointed to a two-year term consistent with the term of office for the President. A minimum of six members are appointed to each committee to serve staggered three-year terms. Members and the Chair may be appointed to consecutive terms. All committee members must be members of MEA. When filling committee positions consideration should be given for representation from various regions of the United States as well as for employment classifications such as secondary, post-secondary, and teacher education. |
