Ken Mattern is an Internship Coordinator with the Peoria Unified School District #11at Raymond S. Kellis High. He has been an instructor in the areas of Business, Marketing, Sports/Entertainment Marketing, Advanced Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Cooperative Education. He is presently an advisor for DECA on his campus, and is in his 10th year of teaching.

His previous business experience was as an owner and publisher of two local newspapers in the Phoenix metro area, in addition to a number of other business ventures. He is currently a licensed Life, Accident, and Health Producer in the state of Arizona, and is a Registered Financial Consultant. He has been a presenter on a national level for college education and funding.

His current community involvement includes board positions with the Phoenix College Alumni Association as a board member and is the current president of the Arizona Cooperative Education Association. Past positions include: president of the Phoenix College Alumni Association, as well as board positions with Parents Anonymous, Glenrosa Village Neighborhood Association, and the Arizona Marketing Education Association as a Western Region Representative. He was recently inducted into the Phoenix College Alumni Association Hall of Fame in 2009, and received the college president’s 2006 Golden Bear Champions Award

Vel Casler

Weber State University

Mr. Casler is a Professor of Sales and Service Technology at Weber State University. He currently serves as Department Chairman for both Sales and Service Technology and Automotive Technology as well as  teaching various classes. He has received various forms of recognition for his excellence in the classroom. He received a Master Online Teacher Certification and received the Utah Post Secondary Educator of the Year Award for 2009 - 2010 from the Marketing Educators Group.

Prior to joining Weber State he was in the corporate business world. He has over 20 years of experience in running companies at the executive level serving as Vice-President, President or CEO of numerous companies. In addition, he has served on the Board of Directors of various companies. His vast background includes extensive experience in all aspects of management, sales & marketing, and customer service both domestically and internationally.

In addition to his regular teaching and administrative responsibilities, Mr. Casler has been active in consulting for numerous organizations in the areas of customer Service, sales management and corporate development. He has provided customer service training for various organizations including the U.S. Forest Service, The Ogden Standard Examiner, Utah Municipal Clerks Association, Ogden School District, Weber State University and Flying J Corporation. In addition, he currently consults for the  Federal Financial Group and Tri-State Radio.

Mr. Casler holds an AA degree from Weatherford College, a B.A. degree in Mathematics from the University of North Texas  and an MBA from Franklin Pierce College. He also received postgraduate training from The University of Utah and Stanford University.

He has been an active member of service clubs including the Exchange Club and the Rotary Club.
